Vice Chair, Paul Chastant, has accepted a position with Carter, Goble, Lee after working with the Lousiana State Department of Juvenile Services. According to the CMI bylaws, Paul will step down as vice chair, but will continue as host of this year's Baton Rouge conference. Paul is also planning to relocate his family to South Carolina. Look out South Carolina - you can already hear Paul coming! CMI wishes Paul the best of luck in his new career! The position of vice-chair will be vacant until the election at this year's conference.
With the passing last year of founding member Bill Harmon, the CMI membership passed a resolution to create the Bill Harmon Memorial Fund. Donations from this fund are intended to defray the cost of new CMI members from states that have either never participated in the conference or have not participated for many years. Consideration will also be given to CMI members whose state or county, due to budget cuts for travel, will not support conference attendance. Contributions to the fund can be found on the 2008 CMI Affiliate Member and Conference Registration Form. Read the Bill Harmon Fund Resolution.
