Mark your schedules and plan your reservations now for the annual CMI conference to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan on October 5 - 7, 2010. Our room rates are still below $100 a night! This year's event is hosted by Jerry Elmblad from the Michigan DOC with assistance from Steve Hudenko from the Kent County (Michigan) Sheriff's Department. Click on the 'Conferences' Tab for more detailed information.
The CMI conference is only two months away and the agenda is finalized! Check out the Conferences Tab for the newest agenda. The theme this year centers on seminars geared to cutting costs and saving the environment. With governments cutting back capital budgets, stretching your existing funds and showing cost savings for new projects are the primary concerns for getting your projects approved. A few of the topics include: Green Boiler Technology; Energy as a Component of Sustainability and Application of Energy Policies; Correctional Facility Lighting Efficiency; Energy Performance Contracts; and The State of Michigan Steps for "Going Green". Keep following the Conferences Tab for any 'tweaks' in the agenda schedule!
The Golf Tournament will be held on October 4th at the Dearborn Country Club. This is a private course designed by Donald Ross. The tournament fee is $85 per person and includes a continental breakfast, golf cart, and lunch. A cash bar is available. The registration form for the tournament is available at the bottom of the "Conferences" Tab.
An updated registration form for single day attendance at the conference is now available. The single day attendance was created a few years back so that members, particularly from the conference host state, can allow several of their employees to attend the conference at least for one day. Affiliates and government employees must be a paid CMI member. The single day rate for Tuesday or Wednesday is $75. This helps defray the cost of the seminar, any paid speakers, as well as any meals or dinners served on those days. The single day rate for Thursday is $50 and includes the site visit to a correctional institution. The registration for single day attendance can be found in the web store.

CMI is always seeking new board members. If you have paricipated in our past conferences, you are already familiar with the benefits of sharing information among your peers in the world of corrections-related facility management. Board members take an active role in planning the events, agendas, and share ideas to improve our yearly conferences. CMI is interested in any candidates who wish to devote some of their free time in interacting with this national organization. Candidates who may be interested can contact any board member prior to the conference for more information.
In other business, a resolution to affect a few amendments to the CMI by-laws was passed by the Board. Read the CMI by-laws here!

The Bill Harmon fund resolution was passed at the 2008 conference in Baton Rouge to help provide financial support to assist CMI members who would likre to attend our conferences, but whose organizations, due in large part to budgetary cutbacks, will not support out-of-state travel.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the Bill Harmon Fund must do so by check. No payments can be made through the website. Contributions to the Fund can made on the 2009 CMI Affiliate Member and Conference Registration Form. You may also read the Bill Harmon resolution.
